Cape Cod Fish Co.

A little slice of New England on the way to the beach. Cape Cod Fish Co. is a seafood market and casual restaurant on Old McGregor Blvd, about fifteen minutes from the house, run by folks who brought their Cape Cod recipes south and did not water them down. If you have been craving a real lobster roll or a bowl of thick clam chowder, this is where to go.

The lobster roll is the headliner, served cold with mayo or warm with butter, and the fried clams, scallops and fish and chips are all done properly. There is a good selection of local Gulf fish too, and the market counter lets you take fresh fillets, shrimp and stone crab claws in season back to the house to cook yourself. The kitchen at the house is stocked for exactly that.

It is a small, casual place and fills up at lunch and early dinner, so expect a short wait at peak times. Go at an off-peak hour, or call ahead for takeout and eat it on the lanai. Worth the short drive inland.
