Fort Myers Beach sits between a productive back bay and the open Gulf, which means there is a charter for every kind of angler. Inshore trips work the flats, passes and mangrove edges of Estero Bay for snook, redfish, trout and tarpon in season. Offshore trips run out into the Gulf for grouper, snapper, kingfish and whatever else is biting over the reefs and wrecks.
Half-day trips are the sweet spot for most guests, especially with kids: four hours is enough to catch fish and get back for lunch. Full-day and multi-boat party trips are available if you want to go further out. Licenses, rods, bait and ice are included on nearly every charter, and most captains will clean your catch for you at the dock. Several island restaurants will cook it for you that night, which is a very good way to end a fishing day.
Book early in winter and spring. Ask about pickup from the house; a number of captains will collect you straight from our dock, so you can skip the marina entirely.
