Every beach town has one ice cream place that everybody goes to, and here it is Love Boat. It has been scooping on San Carlos Blvd, just over the bridge on the way to the beach, for decades, and it has the kind of devoted following that means there is a line out the door most evenings. Do not let that put you off; it moves quickly and the people-watching is part of the fun.
Everything is made from scratch on site in a long list of flavors, from classics done properly to seasonal specials and a few local favorites like key lime and coconut. Scoops are generous to the point of structural instability, so start smaller than you think. Sundaes, shakes and splits are all on the board, and there are picnic tables outside to sit and eat.
It is a perfect after-dinner stop on the way back to the house, or a mid-afternoon cooldown when the beach gets too hot. Cash and card accepted. About five minutes from Siesta Isles.
