Nervous Nellie’s

Nervous Nellie’s sits on Snug Harbor at the north end of the island, a bi-level, brightly painted waterfront restaurant with a view over the marina and the shrimp fleet beyond. It has been a Fort Myers Beach staple for well over a decade and has won the island’s best waterfront restaurant vote more than once, which tells you what the locals think.

The menu is one of the biggest on the beach, covering seafood platters, peel-and-eat shrimp, grouper every way, burgers, wraps, salads, pasta and a solid kids’ list, so it is a safe bet for a group. Upstairs is Ugly’s, the open-air bar with live music every day and a happy hour that runs long. Downstairs is more family-oriented with tables on the water.

You can arrive by boat and tie up at the dock, which is a nice way to do it. Parking is available and they run a courtesy trolley from nearby lots in season. Go for lunch to watch the boats, or late afternoon for the music and the sunset light on the harbor.
