S.O.B. has been on Old San Carlos Blvd since 1997, and its reopening in 2024 after Hurricane Ian was one of the moments the island felt properly back. It is a casual, open-air seafood bar a short walk from Times Square, with a covered deck, a long bar, a stage for live music and the kind of easy atmosphere where you settle in for a while.
The name gives away the specialties. Oysters come raw on the half shell, steamed, or chargrilled with garlic butter and parmesan. The garlic crab legs and the coconut shrimp are the other two dishes regulars order without looking at the menu, and the smoked fish dip is a good starter to share. There is a full bar with cold beer and rum drinks, and live music most nights in season.
It is very relaxed about attire; come from the beach. Happy hour in the late afternoon is popular, and evenings with a band can get lively. Walk over from Times Square after a sunset stroll, or it is a five-minute drive from the house.
