Tiki Bar & Grill (Lighthouse Island Resort)

If your evening needs a band, the Tiki Bar at the Lighthouse Island Resort is where the island goes. Just off Times Square on the Gulf, it is an open-air beach bar with a proper stage and a live music calendar that runs seven nights a week: rock, reggae, island pop and country acts, DJ sets on weekend nights, and karaoke on Tuesdays and Fridays for the brave.

The drinks are a point of pride; the bar has won the island’s Best Drinks on the Beach vote, and the frozen cocktails and rum punches are the crowd favorites. The grill turns out solid bar food, wings, nachos, fish sandwiches and burgers, so you can make a night of it without moving. Seating spills out onto the sand, and the crowd is a friendly mix of visitors and locals.

It is a bar first, so it skews adult after dark, though families are welcome in the afternoon. Check the music schedule online and pick your night. Walk over from Times Square or take the trolley, and leave the car at home.
